Looking for sports bras to match our Active Qups prostheses, we went shopping with Veronic. She has been missing her left breast for a while, loves wearing Qups, and wanted to share her shopping experience with you at Bodywear Superstore in Apeldoorn. On-site, we were welcomed by a dedicated team, with the highlight being Ellen, who also wears Qups herself! Who could guide us better? Of course, we took photos of the models we tried on and are excited to share our experiences.
Ellen immediately grabs a whole selection of bras for Veronic and takes them to the fitting room. There, we also spot a robe hanging—how convenient! If you need to grab something else while trying on bras, it makes things much easier. Very smart. The first bra Veronic tries on is the blue Air Control bra from Anita.
Tip 1 – Air control van Anita – €79,95
Veronic immediately noticed the beautiful color and found the bra comfortable. However, the Qup seemed too small. She usually wears a size M, but in this bra, a size L fits perfectly. Ellen explains that she has experienced the same with different lingerie brands—sometimes you need one size, other times another. In the end, it’s all about finding a combination that makes you feel good. This bra offers firm support, ensuring the Qup stays in place, even without a prosthetic pocket. A great feature of this model is that it comes in many different colors, with new shades available throughout the year. “I’m glad the bra is pre-shaped because I don’t feel comfortable when one side shows a nipple,” Veronic shares.
“Would you still like a prosthetic pocket in your bra? Our lingerie seamstress can add one for you,” Ellen says. “She has personal experience with breast cancer, so we can actually offer almost all our bras with a pocket.”
Ellen also shares how working here opened up a whole new world for her. “Being able to wear beautiful lingerie again makes you feel like a woman. You also want to highlight your remaining breast properly—it needs good support, and often, an underwired bra provides the best shape. It’s wonderful to help women discover that here in our wide collection.”
Tip 2 – Eve van Rosa Faia – €79,95
Next, Veronic tries on a similar model from Rosa Faia, which has a more elegant look. It feels just as comfortable as the Anita bra, thanks to the triangular delta pad made of breathable material—just like the Qups, which are also made of breathable fabric. This material absorbs perspiration well and contributes to the bra’s firm, pre-shaped feel. However, the transparency of the bra makes the Qup quite visible. “Some women might find that difficult, but I don’t,” says Veronic. “I already know I wear Qups, and I’m not ashamed of it. And besides, it’s not like I’m walking around in just my bra—I always wear something over it. I actually like it and feel good about it.” What Veronic especially loves is the combination of a pre-shaped bra without an underwire—it makes her really happy.
Tip 3 – The Game van Prima Donna – €102
Veronic usually doesn’t choose underwires, but for the blog, she decides to try on this underwired bra from Prima Donna. She likes the pattern and the fact that it’s available in multiple colors. However, it quickly becomes clear why she avoids underwires—the end of the wire sits too high under her armpit and presses uncomfortably on a sensitive spot. “I don’t have lymphedema, but I do have cording in my lymph nodes,” Veronic explains. “That makes it a sensitive area that I prefer to avoid irritating. Even when getting blood drawn or a COVID vaccine, they don’t use the arm on my amputated side, just to prevent complications.” It’s a shame because the bra has a nice high fit and provides firm support. A great option for those who can tolerate underwires!
Tip 4 – Fit van Lisca – €42,90
Finally, Veronic tries on this blue basic bra from Lisca. At first, it didn’t seem to be the right size, but once she put it on, we were pleasantly surprised. This pre-shaped, sporty bra felt amazing!
It had a great fit—comfortable and supportive. “When I’m exercising, it’s really important to me that the Qup stays in place so I don’t have to worry about it,” says Veronic. “Though I have to admit, I can’t do every sport just yet. I used to practice yoga, but for now, I’m sticking to walking and cycling.”
Ellen reassures her: “I used to do ballroom dancing before my breast cancer, and it took some time, but eventually, I was able to dance again after cancer. You’ll get there too!”
At the end of the fitting session, of course, we’re curious—which bra is Veronic’s favorite? It’s the first one she tried—the blue Anita bra. That’s the one she’s taking home for her vacation in Austria next week, where she’ll be rafting and canyoning with her daughter!
